Yes, yes i did. . .

Ben loves it.

I had a mini panic attack driving home.

I'll get used to it. I think.

Ben doesn't think it's blog worthy (not that big of a deal).

He may be right.

But, I don't want my family and friends to be too shocked when they first see me like this.

I'm already tired of the extra attention.

THIRTY

Bleh.

But
I had a great day. Mostly thanks to my wonderful husband who arranged for a friend (THANK YOU, Kelly) to watch our kids this morning and then sent me off to the spa for a facial, manicure, and pedicure. Then he had a present waiting for me when I got home. Then after he got out of class he brought home a bouquet of flowers and the babysitter. Then he took me here where we took these pictures with my phone.

(I kicked butt, by the way)

Then he took me out to a yummy dinner and dessert.

Like I said, I had a great day, AND I didn't have to plan a single thing!

My first and last solo

I sang the first solo of my life this past Thursday. It was at a Stake Relief Society "meeting". Have you seen or heard about the 10 Virgins Musical? I hadn't until last month when a girl from my ward called and conned me into participating. I specifically told her that I don't sing solos. She responded with, "Oh, you'll maybe only have like one line to yourself. The rest of it is group stuff."

Yeah, well, that one line turned into SIX PAGES.

I don't know why I didn't back out as soon as I found this out, but I thought it was an innocent mistake on her part. Later I found out she'd performed this program before so she knew that every single participant, all eleven of us (10 virgins + narrator) had a solo. When, on performance night, I finally kind of sort of confronted her (in a joking way) she feigned shock and said that she'd told me there'd be a solo.

Yeah, one line.

Anyway, I sang it. All six pages. On stage, lights off, spotlight on me, microphone and all. It was fine. I wasn't the best; I wasn't the worst (I don't think?). The program was a success. The Spirit was there. I didn't die. People offered compliments.

But I know my limitations. I'm comfortable singing with small groups and choirs. My voice needs others to b-l-e-n-d with. It knows when it's out there all alone, and it doesn't like it. So next time someone asks I'll be adamant. I DON'T SING SOLOS. Oh, wait. There won't be a next time. Pretty sure I took care of that on Thursday. . .

Mission Accomplished :)

The Beginning of the End (or It's My Birthday)

Today is my birthday. I am entering the last year of my 20's. Anything twenty-something sounds young and cool; anything older than that . . . doesn't. So I'm really not that excited about this birthday - it's the beginning of the end.*

Since we had to be at church this morning at 8:30am until about 12:30pm and Ben has some meetings this afternoon and then he has to go into work for a few hours this evening, we decided to celebrate my birthday yesterday.

Despite my lack of enthusiasm for getting older, I had a really great day.

I slept in and then woke up to doughnuts (and hats!)!
Later, Ben gave me an address and informed me I had an appointment there at 3pm. The surprise? A pedicure! I decided to get 'glitter toes'. I kind of feel 12, not 29. See what I mean?
When I got home an hour and a half later, Paige was napping and these were waiting for me on our kitchen table.(Your first glimpses of the inside of our new (old) house - more to come soon. Promise.)

And then Ben told me to be ready at 6:30pm and to put on a dress. We dropped off Paige with Noelle, Steve, and Anna, and Ben took me here for dinner.YUM! The food was SO good. I had the Butternut Squash Soup (BEST butternut squash soup ever), Chicken Marsala, and Creme Brulee. Delicious.

So, Happy Birthday to me :)

Thank you, Ben!

*I realize there's plenty of life left after 30 - maybe even the best parts. I'm just being dramatic.

Tag, I'm it!

My lovely sister, Noelle, tagged me so I decided to comply. I think this particular tag should be called "post an unflattering picture, RIGHT NOW!", because that's what you have to do if you get tagged.

Thanks a lot, Noelle.

Hey, at least I learned how to take a snapshot with my internal webcam.

so here are the rules:

-take a picture of yourself right now, no primping or preparing. just snap the picture.
-load onto your blog.
-tag 3 people to play… remember if you are tagged on another blog we will all be heading to yours to see if you played along.

now i'm tagging:

All About Me

I was tagged by my sister, so now I have to do this...Thanks Amber!!!

A. The rules of the game are posted at the beginning. B. Each player answers the questions about themselves. C. At the end of the post, the player then tags 5 people and posts their names then goes to their blogs and leaves them a comment, letting them know that they have been tagged and asking them to read your blog.

10 years ago.... I was 17 and a junior in high school. I was getting ready to take the ACT for the first time, a varsity cheerleader, writing for the school newspaper, singing in a couple of choirs at school, working at the Gap, and doing poorly in honors english with Mr. Kelly.

Five things on my to do list today.....get dressed, go grocery shopping, make and send Paige's birthday party invitations, vote, and go to BYU to get on the computer I used there during my graduate studies to try and recover a very important program that Ben deleted off our laptop.

Snacks I enjoy... Dubliner cheese with reduced fat wheat thins, fudgsicle brand 100 calorie fudge bars, sliced fresh pear, pirouline hazelnut cookies (the long cylinder ones), string cheese.

If i suddenly became a bilionaire... I don't know . . . buy a nice house somewhere warm, a couple of new cars, travel to Australia, get a new wardrobe, have 5 more kids, save.

5 bad habits.....I pick my face and the back of my arms, I tend to nag, I often think my way is the best way or only way, I procrastinate, I talk on the phone while driving.

5 jobs I have had... nanny to Anna, registered dietitan counseling outpatients at BYU's student health center, research assistant, teaching assistant for sports nutrition, Sugar & Spice (food service) employee.

5 things most people don't know about me....1) I think it would be cool to have a doctorate, 2) I HATE to exercise, 3) I have a stubby thumb, 4) I really don't cook as healthy as people might expect, 5) I don't know if I'd be good at it, but if I could do it all over again, I might choose something in photography or design. I love nutrition and I'm glad I studied it, but if I were to do something else . . .

How Many of Me?

I found this on my friend Ashley's blog. I can't believe there are that many other Bridget Reeds in the U.S. I knew of one other girl with my name at BYU while I was there. I didn't know her personally but her name always popped up on Route Y and in medical records at the Student Health Center. Her middle name even started with L!
